Vote to override the governor's veto and pass a bill that places a surtax of 2.5 cents on each cigarette and appropriates the revenue raised from this surtax.
- -$5 million annually to the Medical University of South Carolina Hollings Cancer Center for tobacco-related cancer research;
-$5 million annually to the Smoking Prevention and Cessation Trust Fund; and
-The remaining funds will be placed in South Carolina Medicaid Reserve Fund.
NOTE: A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY OF MEMBERS ELECTED IS REQUIRED TO OVERRIDE A GOVERNOR'S VETO.
