Vote to pass a bill that, beginning September 1, 2011, prohibits the sale or display for sale of clothing apparel made wholly or partially of fur without having attached thereto and conspicuously displayed a tag or label that includes the names of both the animal or animals from which the fur was acquired and the country of origin of any imported furs.
Highlights:
-Exempts used clothing from the fur labeling requirement (Sec. 1).
-Specifies that a violation of the fur labeling requirement is punishable by a fine of up to $500 for the first violation and a fine of up to $1,000 for each subsequent violation (Sec. 1).
-Specifies that each article of clothing not labeled properly constitutes a separate violation (Sec. 1).
