Title: St. Louis Police Department Governance Modifications
Vote on a motion to adopt a substitute bill text that authorizes cities that are not within counties to create and maintain their own municipal police forces, effective August 28, 2010.
- -Preserve the public peace, welfare, and order;
-Prevent crime and arrest suspected offenders;
-Enforce the laws of the state and ordinances of the city;
-Exercise all powers available to a police force under generally applicable state law; and
-Regulate and license all private watchmen, private detectives, and private policemen.
NOTE: THIS IS A SUBSTITUTE BILL, MEANING THE LANGUAGE OF THE ORIGINAL BILL HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE DEGREE TO WHICH THE SUBSTITUTE BILL TEXT DIFFERS FROM THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE TEXT CAN VARY GREATLY.
