Title: Assault Weapon Definition Amendments

Vote to pass a bill that amends the definition of assault weapons to include any semi-automatic pistol, semi-automatic shot gun, semi-automatic or pump action rifle can have a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following attachments: a pistol grip, "second hand grip or a protruding hand grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand," "a folding, telescoping or thumbhole stock," "a shroud attached to a barrel, muzzle brake or muzzle compensator" as well as any "semi-automatic pistol or semi-automatic centerfire rifle with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than ten rounds of ammunition." The definition of detachable magazine was included as any ammunition feeding device with a function to deliver one or more ammunition cartridges into the firing chamber. The bill also defines what a detachable magazine, muzzle brake and muzzle compensator encompass. The bill requires any person in lawful possession of an assault weapon prior to January 1, 2007 to render the weapon permanently inoperable, surrender the weapon or register the weapon with the ballistic databank.
