Title: Educational Adequacy Act of 2006

Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that increases the minimum salary for teachers by 1.6 percent for 2005-2006 and 2.4 percent for 2006-2007. Increases the foundation funding relative to the district's average attendance for the previous year and it also increases the foundation funding of “the employer rate of contribution to the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System from thirteen percent (13%) to fourteen percent (14%)” for the 2006-2007 school year. The bill defines a “public school facility” to include any building or space used for “extracurricular activity, an organized physical activity, pre-kindergarten, district administration, and instruction to public school students.” Finally the bill requires that nine percent (9%) of foundation funding will be used for the maintenance and utilities of all public school facilities.
