Vote to pass a bill that amends the hiring process for school principals to require the school council to select the new principal from a list of 3 finalists selected by the superintendent within 3 weeks of receiving the list of finalist, and specifies that if the council is unable to select 1 of the finalists, the superintendent will appoint the new principal.
Highlights:
-Establishes Kentucky Literacy Day in which all public schools and libraries, beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, shall "recognize the importance of strong reading skills for the academic success of all students and the cultural and economic future" (Sec. 2).
