Title: Statewide Prohibition of Roadside Animal Sales

Vote to pass a bill that expands a prohibition against the sale of animals on public highways, streets, parks, or public property adjacent to such areas, and commercial private property without the consent of the owner or lessee of the property in the entire state, whereas existing law only applies to counties with populations of 800,000 or more.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the following existing exemptions (Sec. 1):
    • Pet stores;
    • Public or private charitable nonprofit pounds, humane societies, animal rescue organizations, or educational or agricultural organizations; and
    • Rodeos, auction markets, county fairs, stock shows, or other sanctioned livestock exhibit event.
  • Authorizes an existing fine of up to $50 for violations (Sec. 1).
