Title: Chiropractic Regulation Amendments

Vote to pass a bill that establishes the use of the term "Doctor of Chiropractic" and/or "Chiropractic Physician" and defines the roles which are concerned under such title.

Highlights:

-Prohibits the performance of surgery through cutting by use of instruments or lasers (Sec. 1). -Authorizes the signing or certification of pre-employment screenings and/or references for other medical services (Sec. 1). -Authorizes the distribution of dietary or nutritional counseling and nutritional supplements after completing a 45-hour course of study on nutrition from a college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency (Sec. 1). -Establishes a licensed chiropractic to use the title of doctor, as long as this title is qualified by the words doctor of chiropractic, chiropractor or chiropractic physician (Sec. 3). -Requires licensed chiropractors to complete 30 credits of chiropractic education during each biennial registration period, except under reasons of hardship or for the first 12 months after a chiropractor is newly licensed (Sec. 5-9). -Establishes a first offense of a civil penalty of up to $500 and/or a designated number of additional hours of education for failure to complete courses, and a second offense penalty of professional misconduct (Sec. 9) -Requires chiropractors to maintain medical malpractice liability insurance (Sec. 10).
