Vote to pass a bill that outlines a process for the election of school board members every four years, beginning in 2009, and requires a specified number of signatures on petitions for school board candidates and that petitions are filed at least 60 days prior to the election. The bill outlines a process for the appointment of superintendents, beginning January 1, 2008, unless the incumbent County Superintendent chooses to seek reelection. The bill also requires that any Mississippi county with six or more school districts consolidate their administrations into no more than three school districts.
