Vote to concur with Assembly amendments and pass a bill that makes various amendments to education law, many of which constitute an effort to receive federal Race to the Top funds.
-Specifies that data available in the California Education Information System may be used to evaluate teachers and school administrators and to make employment decisions (Sec. 2). -Permits several entities, including, but not limited to, the State Department of Education, the University of California, and California State University, to enter into interagency agreements in order to implement a comprehensive longitudinal education data system for California (Sec. 4). -Establishes the Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Career Technical Education Educator Credentialing Program, in order to provide alternative routes to credentialing (Sec. 5). -Requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to establish an advisory committee to advise the Superintendent and the State Board of Education on various education matters, including, but not limited to, aiding in making recommendations to the Legislature and the Governor regarding the following (Sec. 7):
